TRUCKING INDUSTRY MOURNS UNEXPECTED DEATH OF ENTREPRENEUR AND BAY & BAY TRANSPORTATION CEO, DAVE ANDERSON, 62
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (Jan. 22, 2010) – Bay & Bay Transportation, a family owned national transportation and logistics company, is sad to announce the unexpected death of its CEO, Dave Anderson (David B. Anderson). He passed away suddenly on Dec. 4, 2009, at the age of 62. Dave and his wife, Lois, purchased Bay & Bay Transfer Company in 1988. Their son, Sam Anderson, has been president of the company since 2005.
Trucking Entrepreneur: Dave entered the trucking industry as a diesel mechanic for Ziegler's in Bloomington, MN, and later for Mitchell Transport in Savage, MN. In 1982, Dave and his wife started Anderson Diesel Truck Service, Inc., and in 1988, they bought Bay & Bay Transfer Co., Inc. Over the next 15 years, they were involved in the start up of Anderson Leasing, Starr Ltd., LLC, Fleet Development and Fleet Parking & Logistics, and the purchase of D&T Trucking in 2007. In 2004, Dave and Lois received the prestigious award for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Master Category (a state-wide award). Dave was on the board for Dakota Vocational Technical Institute of Entrepreneurs.
Professional Fisherman: Dave had won many tournaments and awards throughout 20 years of fishing professionally. He received the PWT (Professional Walleye
Trail) Sportsman of the Year Award and the 2004 PWT Angler of the Year for the Western Division. He started the first Minnesota Valley In-Fisherman Club in Apple Valley, and he was on the board of AIM (Anglers Insight Marketing) and a member of NPAA (National Professional Anglers Association).
Military Service: Dave fought in the Vietnam Conflict and received two purple hearts while serving his country. He was a charter member of, and very active in, Post 1776 American Legion in Apple Valley, MN.
Family: Dave was a resident of Apple Valley, MN. In addition to his wife, Lois, and son, Sam, Dave is survived by Sam’s wife (Tiffany) and their two young sons; a daughter, Stefanie Anderson; a brother Steven (Mary) Anderson; and sister, Lori Anderson.
