Bay and Bay Delivers Polaris Donation to Disaster Relief in Oklahoma

Polaris Donating 10 Off-Road Vehicles to The Salvation Army for Oklahoma Disaster Relief

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Polaris Industries Inc. (PII) today announced the company is donating 10 military, off-road vehicles with a combination of Run-Flat and Non-Pneumatic Tires (NPT), to enhance The Salvation Army’s ability to transport food, water and other critical supplies to survivors, in Moore, Okla. The units will be delivered from Polaris’ Osceola, Wis. plant, free of charge, thanks to a generous donation from Bay and Bay Transportation and Overbye Transport.

“With debris on the ground from thousands of destroyed homes, these vehicles will allow us to serve in places our mobile kitchens cannot,” said Lt. Col. Robert Thomson, Salvation Army Northern Division Commander. “We thank Polaris for this incredible gift. These vehicles will allow us to serve more people in crisis.”

The donated units, a combination of military ATV, RANGER and RZR vehicles, are outfitted with either Run Flat tires or NPTs to prevent down time. Run-Flat tires resist the effects of deflation when punctured giving the operator the ability to continue to use the vehicle; and NPTs are built to never go flat and are virtually indestructible.

“Oklahoma will rebound from this terrible tragedy, through the resiliency of its people and the assistance of organizations like The Salvation Army,” said Scott Wine, Polaris’ Chief Executive Officer. “Polaris has long supported their charitable efforts, and we hope the donation of these vehicles will assist them as they provide the affected communities with the relief they desperately need.”

To date, The Salvation Army has served more than 17,000 meals and snacks to tornado survivors and relief workers across Oklahoma, with pastoral care provided to about 800 people. The Salvation Army is now preparing to offer long-term case management, which can include financial assistance, stress management classes, replacement furniture and much more.

Bay & Bay Employees on the Road to Better Health

According to a December 2007 report from the American Dietetic Association, 86 percent of trucking company employees are overweight or obese. This study included over-the-road truck drivers as well as office staff.

Let that sink in for a second. In our industry, 9 out of 10 people are overweight or obese.

The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) decided to do something about it. In partnership with the Lindora Clinic, the TCA started the TCA Weight Loss Showdown. Teams from trucking companies around the U.S. not only compete for bragging rights, but they also compete for prizes. Prizes are awarded to competing companies as well as individual prizes of up to $2500 for the winner. But everyone wins when they get healthier. The challenge lasts 10 weeks.

Memorial Day

As we approach Memorial Day Weekend, please remember what it’s all about. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of nice weather (finally), fishing, golf and family activities. However, it’s also supposed to be a time that we remember those who have died in our nations service.

Bay and Bay Named Cabela’s 2012 Carrier of the Year!

Cabela’s, the world’s largest mail-order, internet and retail outdoor equipment outfitter, recently presented Bay & Bay Transportation with the “2012 Carrier of the Year” award. Cabela’s contracts many trucking companies each year to provide the backbone for its mail-order and internet sales divisions as well as the lifeline for their retail supply chain distribution.

Fundraising Raffle a Success!

We are excited to report that we had a fantastic effort in raising awareness and funds for MN Teen Challenge through the raffles at our Lake Elmo, Rosemount and Burnsville terminals and our Eagan office. Over the past three weeks, we were able to  raise over $3,000. In addition, Bay and Bay helped raise the awareness of this worthy faith-based organization that helps people make a much needed change in their lives.

MN Adult & Teen Challenge Raffle


Recently, Bay & Bay Trucking announced it is holding a raffle to raise money for MN Adult & Teen Challenge. Employees can purchase tickets for chances to win fishing gear and other great prizes.

For over 30 years, MN Adult & Teen Challenge (MNATC) has been restoring hope to teens and adults struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Along with their effective and affordable short-term programs known as Life Renewal, and their distinctive long-term, faith-based recovery program, they also specialize in prevention and transitional/aftercare services.

All these programs allow them to serve people with a broad spectrum of addiction issues.

MN Adult & Teen Challenge truly helps clients gain hope, healing and freedom in their lives.

Last year, Bay & Bay employees raised over $8000 by bidding against each other in a fishing gear auction for MNATC. This year, we have changed the program to be a raffle in the hopes of raising even more money for this worthy cause!


Just in time for this year’s fishing opener, participants have a chance to win cool fishing gear, as well as Cabela’s gift cards.

Each of our four offices will raffle off six different prizes. Each ticket costs $5 and there are no restrictions on how many you can buy.
