Highlights from Our Recent Truck Driver Safety Meeting

Bay & Bay Transportation Values Continued Driver Safety in Eagan, MN and surrounding areas

In early April, Bay & Bay Transportation held its annual trucking industry safety meeting with both truck drivers and office staff attending. In total, 125 people attended the annual event to receive truck driver safety updates, awards, and participate in Q&A sessions with the heads of multiple departments here at Bay & Bay. Safe practices in the trucking industry have always been a priority for us. Since we place such importance on it, we like to reward the drivers that drive safe year after year. This year we awarded over 150 safety awards, ranging from one year of safe driving to 28 years of safe truck driving. We were proud to hand out a few very special safety awards. Five of our drivers have had 20 or more years of accident free driving. Great job everyone! At our safety meeting, we also recognized the recipients of our Driver of the Year award. Winners received a custom leather jacket, $1000 gift card, and an invitation to the Buffalo Roundup in Custer State Park, SD sometime this September. Winners for the 2013 year were: Brad Bergquist (Burnsville), Pat McKinley (Rosemount), and Nate Jensen (Lake Elmo). Congratulations! Attendees were able to gain valuable insight throughout the meeting about safety in the trucking and transportation industry. Our guest speaker this year was Jan Markison, the Casualty Senior Safety Representative from Great West. By including some of the leading experts on safety, we are able to keep our drivers up-to-date on all changes and challenges the trucking industry faces in terms of safety. In addition to outside experts, we also provided Q&A sessions with the heads of multiple departments at Bay & Bay Transportation. Sam Anderson, owner, and Dean Wedul, Director of Safety, were the obvious choices as speakers, but safety encompasses multiple parts of the transportation process. We also brought in Zach Little, VP of Operations, Jeff Raley, Director of Operations, and Kent Klausing, Director of Maintenance, to ensure that our drivers could ask and have answered any questions about safety that they might have had. At Bay & Bay Transportation, we are not only committed to the safety of everyone at the company, but the professional development of each employee, from driver to office staff.
