Truck Driving Safety Tips for Summer and Why You Should Hire an Experienced Truck Driver for Your Dallas, TX Business

When you run a small business, every minute is precious. You have a lot of things to think about and accomplish in the course of a day, so you’re probably not focused on anything that isn’t right in front of you. This is a mistake, especially when it comes to your truck drivers, their safety, and the transportation of your products. It’s important to be aware of how to drive responsibly during the summer in Dallas, TX, and the tips below should help. If you have any truck driving questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Bay & Bay Transportation team.

Bring (And Drink) Plenty of Water

Texas is known for hot temperatures, and it’s never a good idea to drive around dehydrated. Your drivers could put themselves at risk and cause an accident because they’re “out of it.” Make sure bottled water is available to them – even one bottle can make a difference! No matter what you’re doing or how tight the budget is, don’t skimp in this area!

Stay Aware in Construction Zones

Some people are annoyed by construction zones. After all, they slow things down and take up valuable time. Even if you’re in a rush to get your products to stores, don’t put unrealistic expectations on your over-the-road drivers and turn them into speed demons. They need to drive cautiously and go slowly in construction zones. Take truck driving seriously and don’t encourage dangerous habits.

The Secret to Effective Refrigerated Transportation in Philadelphia, PA

With temperatures quickly rising in Philadelphia, PA, business owners and private consumers who utilize cargo transportation services are likely already planning ahead for the summer. Running a business with nature against you is never an easy task, but thanks to advances in refrigerated transportation, even the hottest days won’t impede your daily schedules anymore. And more importantly, thanks to the dedicated truck drivers of Bay and Bay Transportation, even the complex natures of these cooling machines versus the intensity of Philadelphia’s summer heat isn’t insurmountable.

Refrigerated transportation, though complicated, can be an extremely effective method of product transport. But these types of vehicles are only effective when driven by truck drivers who truly understand their underlying complexities. Prepared truck drivers know that a single error could lead to a lost product in minutes thanks to high summer temperatures, which in turn means that each and every refrigerated transportation driver needs to be constantly on the ball. Loading and unloading must be efficient, prep must be thorough, and in the event of a hardware malfunction, compensations must be decided upon and implemented immediately.

Even though refrigerated transportation technology has come a long way from the original ice-cream trucks of yesteryear, even the best technology can’t overshadow the value of skilled truck drivers. At Bay and Bay Transportation, all of these aspects and more are accounted for thoroughly, and only the most effective truck drivers are tasked with operating refrigerated transportation. This means that products will arrive on time, intact, and with deft expertise.

If you require refrigerated transportation services in Philadelphia, PA, contact Bay and Bay Transportation at (888) 801-3026 or visit our website here for more information. Just because summer is here doesn’t mean your business can take a vacation, call today to get your cargo moving.

Truckers Asked to be Knights of the Road in Houston, TX and the Lone Star State

Truck Drivers in Houston and elsewhere across Texas are being asked to keep watch for more than distractions, delays, and other safety issues. Under a recently enacted law, they’re also being encouraged to look for people being transported to places against their will.

The state of Texas estimates that around 300,000 people are affected by human trafficking. Many of them are youths, forced into prostitution or other forms of illegal practices.

The Interstate 10 corridor, which travels through Houston, is the number one route for traffickers, and truckers often see them at truck stops and other places along the road.

Under the new law, those who apply for a trucker or commercial driver’s license in Texas will also receive information on how to identify signs of the crime and how to report it.

Public colleges and schools that offer commercial driving programs will have to include education on how to recognize and prevent human trafficking.

At this point, there’s no educational requirement for existing commercial drivers, but supporters are hopeful it’ll give them more eyes and ears on Texas roadways. Currently, Ohio is the only state with a similar law on the books.

Advocates say it’s another tool to liberate victims and to help those who are trapped to escape from whoever is forcing them to do things against their free will.

It’s also possible a bill aimed at boosting penalties for traffickers and improving protections for victims could be passed sometime soon. Several other human trafficking bills are currently being debated in the Texas legislature and could be approved as well.

Whatever is decided, the push for greater responsibility on the road is welcomed by Bay & Bay Transportation. We pledge to do our part to ensure our drivers will do everything within their power to assist law enforcement officials in combating the heinous act of human trafficking.

The push for greater safety for everyone is why Bay & Bay is known as a quality driven tradition on roads around Houston and on countless miles of highway nationwide. Healthy Truck Drivers Need More than a Balanced Diet in Minneapolis, MN

Staying healthy means a lot more for truckers than watching what they eat on the road, but it surely doesn’t hurt to be thinking about what you put in your personal tank in Minneapolis, Minnesota and elsewhere across the United States.

It’s almost impossible to pull up to a truck stop and not find a fast food option that might taste good in the short-run but create weight gain in the long-run. Diets with too many carbs and sugar are considered to be a fast-lane to health troubles like obesity and diabetes.

Healthy snacks or meals that feature more fruits and vegetables, trail mix with a heavier portion of nuts, and beef or turkey jerky are among several better options.

Exercise can be difficult with a job that demands so much time on the road and behind the wheel. If weight training doesn’t fit into your schedule, setting aside some time each day for walking can pay dividends for muscle health, weight control, and preventing diabetes.

Caffeine and long hauls go together, but sleep shouldn’t be underrated. It’s hard to stay awake and focused if you’re sleep deprived. Find a way to get comfortable, no matter where you try to get a good night of sleep. If it means using a device to create a bit of “white noise” or finding a cushion that helps you snooze, it’s a good thing.

High stress levels, smoking, and no free time are other detours you’ll want to avoid if you’re planning on keeping the long haul from making to you pay too steep a price. When it comes to putting in miles and keeping demanding schedules, your health and wellbeing come first.

Bay & Bay Transportation prides itself on safety and reliability. We feature late model trucks and offer several hauling options for short and long range drivers. We also offer competitive medical and benefit plans to our local and longer route drivers across the United States.

That’s why Bay & Bay is known as a quality driven tradition on roads around Minneapolis and on countless miles of highway nationwide. Call us at (888) 801-3026, or visit our web page for more details and information about how you can join our growing team.
