The Benefits of Outsourcing Flatbed Transportation Services in Albany, NY

Some business owners, whether in Albany, NY, or elsewhere, think they need to do everything in-house. They assume that the best course of action is to keep every task nearby to ensure quality and quickness of production. From ad copy to printing to transportation, they feel their own employees are the best for the job. What they don’t realize is that when they try to control and handle too many tasks at once, they risk damaging the quality of their business and their products. If you have the need for professional flatbed transportation services, it is a good idea to outsource it, and the reasons for doing so are many. If you have any questions after reading this article, call Bay & Bay Transportation at (888) 801-3026.

You Don’t Have to Worry about Training

If business owners try to use their own employees for the trucks, they may have to deal with training, a task that can be time-consuming and expensive. When you hire an outside truck company to deal with the transportation process, it’s one less thing that you need to worry about and deal with while you go through your day. You can rest easy knowing your items will reach their destination safely and in a timely manner.

You Gain Security

Professional flatbed drivers are required to ensure that items are safely stowed on their truck using straps and chains. Not only does this prevent items from falling off the flatbed entirely (causing a loss of product and likely leading to a serious accident with terrible consequences), it keeps the items from moving around. With flatbed transportation services, you can rest assured that nothing damaging will happen on your watch and you will cut back on stress.

What it Takes to be a Truck Driver and Why You Should Hire a Truck Company in Oklahoma City, OK

Like most business owners in Oklahoma City, OK, you’re probably wondering how to cut costs without sacrificing quality. One answer to this problem is having employees take on more responsibilities, including transportation. However, before you create your own internal truck company, do you know what it takes to be a truck driver? What do you get by outsourcing your transportation needs? The transportation specialists at Bay & Bay Transportation are here to clear some things up and share the benefits of hiring a truck company for your transportation needs!

Truck Drivers Must Be in Good Health

You may not think that truck driving is a physically intensive job, but it requires drivers to be in good health. Certain health conditions can interfere with a driver’s ability to safely transport goods but staying healthy on the road is also extremely important. Drivers need to stretch, stay hydrated, and keep their energy levels up to properly perform their jobs. The experienced drivers from a truck company will already know how to maintain their health while meeting the demands of driving.

They Must Have their CDL

Being a truck driver takes more than being able and willing. Truck drivers also need their CDL to legally transport goods. This involves rigorous training and passing a written exam and driving test. When you work with a truck company for your transportation needs, you’ll always have access to experienced drivers who not only have their CDLs but also undergo ongoing training to stay at the top of their game. This also relieves you of the burden of ensuring your drivers’ qualifications are always up to date.

They Need Experience

At Bay & Bay Transportation, all of our drivers have a wealth of experience. We don’t hire green drivers. This is part of what allows us to ensure reliable, quality transportation services. Our drivers also work with our logistic specialists to ensure your transport goes smoothly.

Taking on transportation yourself isn’t just time consuming, but it’s not cost effective. Instead, partner with a professional truck company who can ensure your goods are safely transported from point A to point B every time. Call Bay & Bay Transportation of Oklahoma City, OK, at (888) 801-3026 to learn about our truck company and what we can do for you.

How Your Experienced Truck Drivers Can Get Proper Sleep in Madison, WI

We’re told again and again the importance of a good night’s sleep, but when you run a business, that’s easier said than done. How can you possibly sleep when you have so much to do? You have orders to take, customers to keep happy, meetings to schedule… do the doctors and “health experts” think you can just drop everything to crawl into bed? While it’s a problem for you, it’s an even more serious problem for even the most experienced truck drivers on your Madison, WI, team. If they don’t get a good night of sleep, or sleep at all, they put themselves and others in danger. They could get into serious accidents that will leave you both with a long road of recovery ahead. Keep this from happening with the tips below.

Park the Truck in a Quiet, Safe Area

It goes without saying that, when you’re in a loud, chaotic area, it’s hard to close your eyes and go to sleep. Experienced truck drivers should park their trucks in quiet (and especially safe) areas for the night so they can rest. It’s also important for the bed in the truck to be comfortable. If the bed is lumpy, slanted, or just plain uncomfortable, the driver will suffer.

Block Out as Much Light as Possible

When the driver goes down to rest, they should try to block out as much light as possible. Bright surroundings can hinder sleep. If they can’t seem to block out any light, or there is still a bit of light they can’t get rid of, they can try using an eye mask. Even the most seasoned over the road drivers will know the benefits of this.

The ‘National Challenge’ of Truck Parking Gets an Updated Survey in Nashville, TN

Chances are you’ve got a story or two about not being able to find parking when you needed it in Nashville, TN. You’re not alone and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is busy conducting a commercial truck parking availability survey very similar to one it did back in 2014.

In a city with three major interstates passing through it, Nashville knows a thing or two about truck traffic and the demand for big rig parking. The FHWA will take a state by state look at the location, number of spaces, availability and demand for truck parking; including truck stops and trucks parked along roadways and on highway ramps.

Bay & Bay Transportation anticipates we will be asked along with our drivers about the growing issue of a lack of truck parking and the impact on overall safety. The two biggest concerns: tired drivers being forced to keep moving and others who must pull over and park in what are considered to be unsafe places.

The need for truck parking and rest facilities has grown even more acute with electronic logging, which limits a driver’s service hours.

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) believes “we are in a crisis stage now” regarding the truck parking shortage. The ATRI cites data which suggests truck drivers search for parking on average for close to an hour per day. They figure that amounts to an “opportunity cost” of $4,600 annually in terms of lost wages per truck driver. It’s a figure the ATRI says can be up to 10 percent of a truck driver’s annual salary.

This year’s parking survey will be expanded to include ports as well the nation’s interstate highways. It will also look at the parking needs of drayage and short-haul local drivers as well as over the road drivers.

The FHWA says all states have a parking problem and they need to work together to meet those needs. The results of the latest survey will be available sometime in 2019.
Bay & Bay Transportation believes in driver safety and hopes to be a part of the solution to the nationwide parking shortage. We’re currently looking for drivers in the Nashville area and other parts of Tennessee. Be sure to look for more details as Bay & Bay offers even more competitive pay and benefit packages.

Truckers Will Encounter Plenty of Orange This Summer on Roads Around Minneapolis, MN

The old joke about seasons in Minnesota is being mostly confirmed as true this summer in Minneapolis, MN.

As most drivers know, there’s winter and then there’s road construction season. Truckers are sure to find a greater level of frustration especially if they plan to travel Interstate 35 West through Minneapolis.

A 239-million-dollar renovation of I-35W is underway and frequent closures and orange barricades are sure to be the norm, rather than the exception while drivers try to navigate the city.

While federal efforts to get a nationwide infrastructure plan passed and paid for appears to be hopelessly stalled, Minnesota is dedicating a little more than a billion dollars to state road and bridge projects that could stretch across the entire year.

The repaving of roads, repairs, replacement of structures, and even painting is an effort to maintain the state’s 12,000-mile network of interstates and state highways. The improvements are mostly funded by transportation taxes and federal aid. While Minnesota is using bonding to boost funding over the next 4 years, lawmakers still haven’t figured out how they’ll make up a large gap in those dollars, which will hit hard in 2022.

It’s a business issue and a safety concern for Bay & Bay Transportation of Minneapolis. On time and incident-free deliveries depend on consistent road conditions and excellent drivers. We’re always looking for experienced operators who know how to safely navigate any conditions, including those created by crews making crucial upgrades to Minnesota roads.

Safety is one of the major reasons why Bay & Bay is known as a quality driven tradition. If you’ve got the right stuff, call (888) 801-3026, or visit our web page for more details and information about how you can join our growing team in the Minneapolis area and other parts of the country.

No Summertime Blues Expected for Truck Drivers in Minneapolis, MN This Year

It’s nice to be in demand, but how in demand is hard to predict for this summer for truck drivers in Minneapolis, MN, and the rest of the metro area.

While meteorologists worry about strong storms during the warmer months, a perfect collision of freight factors is sure to create some additional worry that no A/C unit can cure.

Growing online orders, driver shortages, and high-turnover rates among truck drivers combined with an increasing demand for shipping help is certain to boost delivery costs and make for a long, hot summer as freight haulers do their best to keep up.

Whether they work for bigger companies like Bay & Bay Transportation of Minneapolis or are independent operators, nearly everyone is trying to figure out the ultimate impact of electronic logging, which went into effect on April 1.

As the new ELD rules took hold, experts were predicting that the mandate threatened to squeeze an already tight supply of drivers and trucks. Logistics experts have extra work ahead as well. Truck drivers are being forced to wait longer at loading docks while cargo is either loaded or unloaded.

It could very well lead to higher shipping rates and a bigger tab for consumers as companies pass along what are sure to be higher costs.

Bay & Bay is responding with higher pay and some extras to make the assignments even more attractive to truck drivers. This includes late model trucks and options that include short and long-haul routes across North America. Bay & Bay is also offering highly competitive compensation and benefits packages to make every mile count.

It’s why Bay & Bay is known as a quality driven tradition. If you’re an experienced truck driver call (888) 801-3026 or visit our web page for more details and information about how you can join our growing team for what is sure to be a busy summer in the Minneapolis area.

Building Better Habits for the Mind and Body while Truck Driving in Philadelphia, PA

Being a professional truck driver in Philadelphia, PA, has its perks. Interesting work, new sights, independence, and an open road are all on the top of the list. But, thanks to the natural patterns of the job, some people can find themselves being neglectful of their own mental and physical wellbeing over time in a truck driving position. The professional truck drivers with Bay and Bay Transportation know that a positive attitude and a little preparation go a long way in keeping drivers on task and feeling great. Plus, it can encourage all drivers, commercial and non-commercial alike, to make sure they’re approaching driving in a healthy, effective way.

When you’re working as a professional truck driver, it’s easy to let yourself fall into ruts of bad behavior. This isn’t universally true of every person who has ever worked in truck driving, but, just like any other job, you can find yourself cutting corners and settling when you just want to be done with your day. This can manifest in making poor food choices, skipping out of needed rest, and selecting easier routes for the wrong reasons.

If you’re trying to build better truck driving habits, start taking control of your truck driving environment in small ways like packing healthy snacks and plenty of water. Being hungry on the road or being low on vitamins can impact just about everything you do and how you feel. Replenishing your energy in low-sugar, high vitamin ways can keep your mood stable and temper in check, all without you really thinking about it.

You should also practice letting things go. Professional truck drivers have to deal with a lot of non-commercial drivers making very, very poor choices on the road. Rather than letting that frustration fester, breathe deep and accept that you can only control your environment, not theirs.

If you feel well fed and in a good state of mind, you’ll be more likely to appreciate the sights and sounds around you. As a professional truck driver, you should make a conscious effort to enjoy the landscapes and landmarks that you encounter. Being present while truck driving is safer and a lot more fun. Feel free to notice rolling hills, interesting old buildings, and funny bumper stickers when safe to do so, and even consider making a journal of your routes. Journaling may sound like extra work, but treating truck driving like an adventure rather than a chore can help you return home feeling satisfied and settled.

Like it or Not, Truckers in Minneapolis, MN, Will Have New Electronics for the Holidays

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s naughty or nice list is about to go all electronic in Minneapolis, MN, and just about everywhere else trucks roll in the United States.

Following years of planning and debate, what’s known as Electronic Logging Devices are supposed to be in the nation’s commercial motor vehicles, keeping tabs on data including; miles traveled and hours of service, while cutting down on paperwork.

In Minneapolis and elsewhere, drivers aren’t quite sure if the new rule, which takes effect in mid-December, is to have an immediate effect on the hours allowed over the road (it’s 11 by law) in a 14 hour stretch of duty.

It’s anticipated some truckers will see their incomes drop if there is greater accuracy in logging and in how long it takes to make a delivery. Some fear the result could be a greater driver shortage and smaller trucking firms will be forced out of business.

Another great unknown on Minneapolis roads and those across the country is whether less “unlawful driving” leads to more safety, fewer wrecks, and more lives saved each year.

While December is the deadline for electronic logging compliance, truckers and their companies could be fined for non-compliance for several months after the rule takes effect before regulators attempt to force their rigs off the road.

Another issue being closely watched is the number of miles traveled as the result of greater compliance and accuracy due to the electronic measurements. If there is still good demand for haulers to deliver, some are hopeful pricing will go up and the industry will become more profitable. Other observers aren’t so sure about that.

Like everyone else, Bay & Bay Transportation will do its best to comply with the new rules and to keep tabs on whether the new rule is good for its drivers and customers. The Minnesota-based company prides itself on safety and reliability. They operate late model trucks and offer several hauling options for short and long-range drivers, along with competitive pay and benefit plans at several locations across the U. S.
